Consultation: Rural Speed Limit Project

You may have noticed signs on the roads around Chilworth asking for feedback on proposed changes to speed limits.
The Rural Speed Limit Project aims to review all 60mph national speed limit roads, with a view to reducing the speed limits where appropriate. Some adjoining roads, which already have lower posted speed limits, may also be reviewed to maintain a consistent speed limit hierarchy.
In St Martha Parish, Surrey Highways is inviting comments on proposed reductions to 20mph in Blacksmith Lane, Halfpenny Lane, and Sample Oak Lane.
The consultation closes on 4 July 2025.
